LET ME TELL YOU HOW IT WAS (2)

CARLOS CARABALLO

It can be noted that this was our second exhibition. The first one was very good, but in this one a better understanding between the group participants could be observed, a greater fluidity with the order in which we presented ourselves and a better organization than the last time. At the time, each one was seen separately focused and eager to develop their presentation with a study and in-depth management of the specific topic that touched them, demonstrating an interest and commitment to the class and what we are learning.

The first group to appear was the so-called #3. They developed the theme of health and education in the United States today. The dynamic of placing a large part of the material in video format was interesting; With these videos, the learning environment was more entertaining. As for the information, it was surprising to discover that the US Department of Health has so much authority over all prescription drugs and such a large budget that is dedicated to this sector, only reached by the infrastructure and surpassed by the budget for defense.

With respect to education, the most relevant and useful was the information on scholarships, financial aid and student loans provided by the exhibitors.

There is an immense number of organizations that facilitate the obtaining of these resources and each house of studies has one or more teams dedicated to the organization and dissemination of these.

The second group to perform was the so-called #2. They developed the theme of Law and Order focused on immigrants in the United States. Very good organization with the slides having all the same fonts and the same background. The first thing that caught my attention was the material they distributed, since within the sheets there were links and brochures with very useful information for people who are involved in migratory processes, as is my case. You can further understand how the legal status granting mechanism works along with credentials and IDs. One point to highlight is the political background involved with immigration decisions, the importance of the impact of US politics on these issues, to the point that more than a national security issue it becomes a debate between Democrats and Republicans, giving understand that if you really want to be informed and up to date with reality, you have to be more aware of the political interests of each party.

The last group to exhibit was ours, the so-called #1. It is an advantage to present at the end because you can learn from any details that the other exhibitors have had and thus avoid them. At the same time, everyone expects the best from whoever exhibits last for the same reasons. We develop the theme on racial divisions and the economy, all focused on today. They talked in depth about racism and how deeply rooted it was in American society but little by little, with each of the social movements since the time of slavery, it has been purged. Currently there are cases and situations where being from a certain ethnic group usually motivates discrimination or persecution. This part of our presentation put me in context with the reality that many people live and to be a little more empathetic.

The last topic we discussed was the Florida economy today, we discussed the real estate market, the basic basket and how COVID-19 affected the economic sector at a general level. This topic was the one that I had to develop, therefore, from which I was able to assimilate the most information, specifically
highlighting how the market can resist such enormous challenges and at the same time be so fragile as to fluctuate due to publications on social networks.

It is impressive how many sectors can be affected, but the economy always finds a way to change or mutate so that, depending on the conditions, other businesses are strengthened.

An excellent experience to develop my attitudes working as a team, gain confidence exposing projects and improve my skills in presenting such serious and important issues.
