Chapter Review Blog

I felt so much pressure when I found out that I had to present a project about the chapters.
I've never been the type to be good at talking to an audience. Im the type of person that starts to get
nervous and that tends to lead to stuttering or me repeating the word "um". Not only that but I found
out that I had to present about a intresting topic, this had me thinking how was I going to present with good topics with out me boring the people that were listening. The group had split decisions on what sub chapters we would be working on to complete the chapter we were working on. We were group one so
we were working on "Intercultural Communication". Out of all the groups, our group was my favorite one.
The topic really helped me understand how different cultures around the world can be. We touched up on how different roles are played around the world, the meaning behind culture, the reason on why understanding cultures are important, how different cultures have different religious believes, the type
of barriers we set up as a human being, and so much more interesting topics. This chapter really helped
me with opening my eye and show me the way on why as a human being we can react and behave to
certain things that happens in our daily lives from time to time. Talking to someone can be probably
the best way because were able to see how the person handles themselves when certain topics are
being talked about. Many people can be more intrigued on the way I sound when I talk or the way I
deliver the sentence that I am going to say rather then listen what it is that I am really talking about.
This proves that communication can be such a vital thing when culture is being talked about.
Another important sub topic was the potential barrier that we put up as humans, because of barriers
sometimes us humans can't really understand where the other person is coming from and getting to
understand the point they are trying to prove. We have to help each other by doing things more clearly
and maybe taking things slower than usual. On the other hand the other side of the party can work on
things like observation and trying to listen into key information that can be very important to what the talk is based upon. Anybody can make mistakes and that where we can charm in and be more informing
about our culture. We need to learn how significant and the value of things like attitudes and belief s can be.
The second group talked about "Communication in Group". Now I did say our group had the best topics, but that doesn't mean that the other groups didn't have things that weren't key information as well.
This group talked about things like communication within a group or how a group can solve a conflict within themselves. This was intriguing and important for me to listen to because outside of school I am
a manager at a retail store. Sometimes there can be a conflict within our work enviornment or with a
certain customer or client that is not satasfy wit the item that was sold to them by an employee.
As a manager I always have to be quick on my toes and make up a solution no matter what the situation is. This group showed me that I can solve different conflicts with solutions that are having productive
communication, offering guidance, and giving constructive criticism. The group really helped making me understand the strategy behind critical criticism, and how it might be one of the best way to solve
something at a work place. Constructive criticism is a strategy that lets me know what the problem
is, assign who or what gets the blame, and helps me support the incredible work that was being
shown. As a leader I will provide information to solve the issue because nobody in the world is better
than anybody else, we all tend to make mistakes and we gotta show that its acceptable and like
this we can prevent the mistake from happening again. Like this we can get the problem solved
and everybody will understand that the leader is trying to have everything under control and nothing
negative can be made out of the situation.
The third groups presentation had to do with "Leadership and Problem Solving". This
presentation demonstrated how one person can have such a huge role on a group. Leaders tend
to have coach like personality so people can pick up information easier and know what to do
without having people tell them what to do. Similar to coaches, leaders tend to help their team
reach there objective with the knowledge they already have. This can be things like marketing.
budgeting, and shifts. This can also be setting specific roles to each individual on the team or
group. To sum everything up these three chapters were important and I'm glad we went over it because it really showed me how things are handled in different ways. Like I've said my favorite was my group.
It really showed me how different group handle different situations depending on their culture.
Because of this project I'll be more understanding when it comes to different people, and I hope they'll
do the same so we can learn a lot more about each other.
I do agree that your chapter has a great and important subject. Very good reflection.
