Another brief comment about our project

As in the first text for this blog, I will use this space again to make another very brief comment about our second presentation week and my experience.

Starting backward, the first group to make the presentation was group 3, commenting on Health Care and Education. The group addressed several aspects, starting with Free Health Care. They explain what universal health means, showing on a map which countries have it and which do not, what are the pros and cons of having universal health care and how and who would be able to change the current state of health care. Health care in the US is a topic that I found very interesting, especially coming from a country with a universal health care system with its strengths and weaknesses. They talked about psychotherapy, drug prescriptions, and how the current Joe Biden administration deals with them. They also addressed the issue of abortion and its impacts on society. Another controversial topic, as well as abortion, was gun control and laws in Florida.

Entering the field of education brought an introduction to questions about teacher shortages and what causes them, homeschooling and its rise during covid, and Student Loan about how it impacts new students. Finally, they addressed the importance of having education planning

Next, the second group to make the presentation was group 2, commenting on Law and Order and Immigration. They focused at first on the issue of immigration. Starting with the distribution of immigrants, how they are treated at the borders, the effects within the country, the problems faced, how small cities harbor a large number of immigrants and how this affects these small cities. Still, within the theme, they brought up the issue of border protection and why it is so important to protect it. They also talked about the different actions between former President Trump and the current one on immigration on the theme of a critical case involving the separation of parents and children while entering the country. The other topic addressed was a crime, where they are most committed, their causes, their standards, and finally, Police brutality.

Finally, the last group to present was the one that I am part of, group one, with the themes of Racial Divide and Economy. We divided the presentation into the local economy, more specifically about Miami Dade County, the current economic situation in the United States, and the economy on a broader, global scale. Still, in economics, we made a financial comparison between perspective and reality in three themes: recession, political influence on the economy, and income inequality.

Concerning the racial divide, we also comment on how this occurs in Miami-Dade County and throughout the United States. I took the US, Brazil, and South Africa, compared them racially, and surveyed how segregation affects each nation's economic issue. Finally, we discussed how the economy has changed in the world, how it affects our lives and the economic impact of the war in Ukraine.

The process was similar to the previous presentation but slightly changed. This time the difference is that each of the groups selected two themes from among, and the order of presentation was altered. I gave myself more in this project since I could take the chosen theme and make a comparison using my country as one of the examples, however unfavorable. I enjoyed carrying out the project and am ready for the next one.
