Blog 2 - Project presentation -

 

    As I mentioned in my first blog, I am not a guy that likes reading books and books. Researching info and numbers to create the presentation helped me understand and learn new things. Thanks to the professor, she changed the group presentation order, so as group one, we were the last group to present our project and had more time for our research. We went deeper into this presentation with numbers, videos, examples, and graphs. This presentation always kept my attention high. It has been divided into three groups with three main topics. The presentation focuses on the United States' healthcare, education, racial divide, and the economy in general that affects their daily activities. I can say that the systems in the United States are distinct in the various services it offers its citizens.

 

Group three was the first group to present. Their main topic was healthcare and education. In my opinion, it was the most interesting, because they “touched” some daily problems in our lives. I learned that the US department of health controls drug prescriptions after consideration of the many factors that may contribute to the usefulness or harmful effects on the human body. The US government has spent a lot on drugs prescription due to the nature to which drugs are being designed. The government has increased the expenditure on drug prescription in the current financial year in its budget to cater to the new entrance of drugs designed to heal certain proven diseases.

    Fortunately, I have never asked for a loan for my studies, but today, it is common. My wife started “FIU Law School” and received a full scholarship thanks to her high GPA. Generally speaking, I understood that the government offers student loan services at higher learning institutions. Through the initiation of universal education, the government grants students loans to facilitate their education. The students must apply through the various institutions they have been admitted to. They must fill in their details and provide documentation to state that they are authentic students of that institution. The repayment period is ten years after the completion of their education. The loans help ensure the provision of education to all. 

 

    Another subtopic that “touched” me was the shortage of teachers. My mum just retired after 41 years of teaching in a primary school. This group showed us that there is a growing rate of tremendous teacher shortage in the United States. The trend has been witnessed for quite some time now. There is a high demand for teachers, especially in high schools and the K-Schools. The shortage is attributed to a wide range of issues, including instability in the staffing of institutions and the poor remuneration of their wages and salaries. Covid 19 pandemic effects have also been attributed to the shortage alongside the lack of adequately qualified teachers in many states.

In conclusion, I can say that this project was linear and well presented, with exciting sub-topics.

 

 

 

The second presentation topic was "Law And Order with Immigrants in the US." I could learn that the crime rate in the United States is on an upward trend. The criminal justice system and the federal bureau of Justice statistics have shown that the country has registered alarming criminal offenses rates. The criminal offenses have ranged from property crimes to more violent crimes. Different situations, such as the killing of George Floyd by the state police, also contributed to the increased crime rate. 

The sub-topic that impressed me the most was immigration and border control. I could be part of this project, but I decided to choose another one because I am pretty familiar with that. Every day, my wife, who is working as lead paralegal in a Law Firm office, mentions me Visas, Immigration status/problems, and human trafficking. They showed us a video regarding human smuggling, which shocked me. More than 50 people died on a truck in San Antonio trying to pass the US border control. 

The government has managed to control the borders with other nations through its law enforcement agencies. The initiative taken by both Trump and Biden administrations is towards enhancing the security of its citizens. Border control is meant to reduce the number of people entering the US, especially those deemed harmful. The government has managed to inspect the goods entering the country through border control.

    They also briefly explain Biden And Trump administration on immigration. Both administrations have possessed different policies toward immigration. Trump administration has been cited as the worst in terms of policies on immigration. His policies included stringent procedures for immigrants entering the country and the inhumane acts meted out on time. Biden administration has since relaxed some guidelines that did not favor immigrants. Biden administration has been rated as favorable compared to Trump's regarding immigration. 

 

    In conclusion, I can say that also this presentation was well done. All the slides had the same fonts and the same background. 

 

 

Finally, my group presentation with the most demanding topics: we talked about Racial Divides and The Economy.We had some technical issues, such as theme slides and background, but in the end, it was the most details presentation. We spoke for the entire class and didn’t have time to present all of it.

 

 

 We spoke about racism in the United States has been the most significant menace that the government and many human rights groups have been fighting against. Racism has impacted negatively on the livelihood of the people of color who have fought against it for a very long time. Regarding employment, whites will be privileged compared to people of color. The menace of racism has had a lot of inequality in the employment sector of the United States.

 

 

    COVID-19 in 2020 impacted people of color negatively because they were not given the same attention as whites. The higher mortality rates in the country at the time were of the blacks because of the suffering they underwent. The economic crisis impacted adversely on them because of the insufficient government support compared to the services given to the whites.

 

    In terms of the economy, we mentioned the Miami Dade and global economies, the differences, and the changes during the last two decades. The sub-topic, such as COVID-19, the Ukrainian war, and the recession, helped us better understand how and where we live.

 

In conclusion, The United States system of Administration is unique and encompasses many obligations. Ranging from the Healthcare sector to law and order and racial inequality, the government has tried to bring together for the betterment of lives in the country.

 

I am excited to start the last project and discover new things.
